There are sure to be a few snowy days left before the spring is done, and one great way to enjoy them in Simcoe County is to head out snowshoeing. Now, first time snowshoe enthusiasts may not want to rush out and buy a pair right off the bat. Luckily, Mountain Equipment Co-op in nearby Barrie rents snowshoes for just $15 a day for adults and $10 a day for kids. So you can grab a pair and hit the trails at one of these amazing local destinations. You can discover excellent local trails at destinations such as Earl Rowe Provincial Park, Minising Wetlands Conservation Area, Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area and more.

What better way to celebrate spring with the family than to plant a tree! The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority will be holding community volunteer tree planting throughout the region this spring, so find a day that works for your family. It’s an excellent way to teach your kids about nature, environmental responsibility and community service.

Speaking of the environment, Earth Hour is coming up on Saturday March 24 from 8:30pm-9:30pm. It’s a great way to express your commitment to the environment and set environmental resolutions for your household. It’s also an opportunity to enjoy some candlelight as a couple, go for a walk beneath the stars with your furry friend or stage an indoor camp out with the kids.
